Meet the Principal

Introducing Mrs.Diane Fletcher, Principal of Midland Secondary School. New to the school this year, she is warmly welcomed by all students, staff, and parents. She has taken on this role with ambition and positive leadership and shows promise of accomplishing great things here at Midland Secondary School.

Armed with a teaching degree in Social Studies and Special Education, Mrs. Fletcher began her career teaching at Twin Lakes secondary school in Orillia. Over her fourteen year term at the secondary school, she worked in six different departments and was department chair of special education. In later years she took up Vice-Principal positions at Stayner Colligate and Barrie North as well as attaining a position at the board office in gifted education. Overall her successful career has brought her to become the Principal of Midland Secondary School.

While the school has strength in areas such as academics and staff support, as principal Mrs. Fletcher has set out to strengthen the school as a whole. Starting on school’s image within the community and internally, the goal is to ultimately create a school where students are proud to attend. The problem to overcome is the lack of advertising the school does for the events and other activities that take place here. By increasing the communication between the school and the community the hope is that the goal can be achieved.

While only four months into her first school year, Mrs. Fletcher has already created positive change within the school. She has kept an open mind and quietly lead the school on its way to becoming a better place to learn. On behalf of the entire student body and staff, Midland Secondary School, we look forward to a bright future with Mrs. Diane Fletcher.

One Response to Meet the Principal

  1. Robert Lavoie says:

    Hello Mrs Fletcher,

On an outing from St Theresa’s Secondary to go to the Dairy Queen during exams on Friday June 24, we met an outstanding young man who is a student at your school. We had two students using wheelchairs, and 3 ambulatory Special Needs students walking. On the path that we had taken, a slew of large size branches and numerous smaller ones scattered on the trail between the Lawn Bowling courts and Little Lake Park. This young man (name might have John) volunteered his time and effort to help us moved several of these logs and branches which cleared enough of a path to allow the students using chairs to snake their way through. Thanks to him, his family, and
your school for developing such a fine young man.
